Free From Birthday Cake Recipe

I wanted to share my Birthday cake recipe with you all as this is the first Free From cake that i've made myself and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. Heres what I found-

  • Udi's Gluten free Cake Mix
  • Pure sunflower spread
  • Natural Extract Vanilla
  • 2 Eggs
  • Goats Milk Yogurt
  • Unicorn candle ;)
Udi's say that it isn't dairy free as it explains on the box that you need to add low fat Yogurt but I just added Goats Milk Yogurt and it tasted amazing.

  • Pre heat oven to Gas mark 5/180c
  • smother your cake tin in butter, I used a 9 inch round cake tin as advised on the box
  • pour the Udi's cake mix into a bowl
  • then add 5 tbsp of softened butter and beat until crumbly (as shown above)
  • add the 2 eggs and 1/2 tsp of Vanilla and beat
  • then beat in 1 cup of low fat Yogurt
  • spoon into prepared tin
  • then heat for 40-45 minutes
  • allow to cool for 10 minutes in Pan then turn onto rack to cool completely
Thats it!

I use Betty Crocker chocolate icing as it is already made up and dairy free! I applied the icing with a spatula and only used half of the one pot I bought.

Tescos coloured strands, also wheat and dairy free.

Ta Daaahhh!

I applied the sprinkles on the sides by dipping a bread knife into boiling hot water then sprinkling the coloured strands onto the knife then applying pressure to the sides of the cake so it'll stick.

The Unicorn candle is from- http://www.asos.com/npw/npw-unicorn-candle-holder/prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=6100498&clr=Multi&SearchQuery=unicorn&pgesize=36&pge=0&totalstyles=98&gridsize=3&gridrow=12&gridcolumn=1

This is me on my Birthday :) The cake tasted delicious and was easy and fun to make! Please try this recipe if you are Dairy and Gluten free like me and let me know what you think ! x

Birthday Celebrations at Sketch

So I had a wonderful week off work and it was also my Birthday! I watched Gilmore Girls all day, had a brandy and cranberry every evening and enjoyed some peace and quiet! I even had a week off from Gym, which was a stupid idea but I did enjoy being a vegetable.
My countdown back to work was lingering but I was patiently waiting for this day, to finally go to Sketch.
I only turned 24 this year but my Mum on the other hand turned 60 (her birthday was in june). I can't top that milestone, so I booked Sketch for us both for our birthdays to have some quality time with good friends, heres my day in pictures...

The whole day was incredible and a wonderful experience that I'd love to do again. The table setting was divine, I loved the theme of the Afternoon Tea Pink room (Champagne Afternoon Tea may I add). I felt like I was in a Marilyn Monroe movie. I also loved the creativity and unique art work that we saw throughout the building. It feels like you're having tea in the Tate Modern, art surrounds you and thats very up my street!
The toilets were an experience of their own, Frank Sinatra was playing in my 'pod' and various other songs or voices were heard.

And the food! It has to be the BEST gluten/dairy free afternoon tea I have ever tasted. The menu and food shown above are the Free From range! When I made the booking I informed them of my allergies, I always feel like I'm being incredibly awkward even though I've been eating like this for years I still have a nervous feeling come over me when I order or ask about ingredients. The staff were very reassuring and made no deal about my allergies. I felt 'normal' when it came to my menu which is a rare feeling. So thank you Sketch!

I hope you've enjoyed this blog and if you haven't been to Sketch before, take a look for yourself!

My Everyday Makeup

When I say everyday I mean everyday since I was 15!! The only thing that has changed is my eyeliner being thinner, I used to have it thicker and longer like an Punk Rocker.

The inspiration to this everyday look always was- Anime characters (the big eyes and flick by the side of the eye)
Plus- Pixel Chicks! The kids game who also have those eyes lol

  • First I put on my Eyeliner. I've been using this eyeliner since day 1, its long lasting, cheap, comfortable to wear and easy to apply.

  • Then I apply my mascara. YSL is my all time favourite, I have quite long lashes and this mascara extends them even more and lasts all day. I never apply my make up twice.

  • Then I apply my eyeshadow all over my lid, which is always white but never a certain brand. Each time it runs out I buy any brand, whichever I find first!
  • My applicator is from Charles Fox I've used this brush for years and love its shape, heres a similar brush-

  • Then I apply another random brand of mixed eye shadows (involving blue). As you can see the blue shades have been used the most, I press the blue onto the side of each eye (above the flick) to add some colour. I've tried many colours on the sides of my eyes but I've always preferred blue as my eyes are blue. I feel it brightens the eye.

  • Then I reapply my eyeliner as the eyeshadow dusts over it and then I brush my Estee Lauder powder onto my cheeks and i'm done!

I know this is a very simple blog and it's hard to explain when you're not filming yourself but my make up routine is pretty simple so I hope you enjoyed it!
